New to Rochester? New to the gluten free diet and already in Rochester? Here are my favorite restaurants in the area! This is a small list; there are a lot of gluten free places in this city, and I do enjoy more than are on this list. I tried to think of my top places, ones that I crave time to time. Comment below your faves!
Simply Crepes Website: http://simplycrepes.com/Home.aspx Menu: http://simplycrepes.com/Portals/5/Menus/2019_Spring_Menu_-_NY_bleed.pdf Favorite Dishes: California Benedict or Berries and Cream if you're looking for a sweeter one Other Advice: They do not take reservations, but they do take call ahead seating. Simply Crepes never fails to make me happy. I got the Seasonal Flatbread (which I forgot to photograph... sorry!!) for free because if you download the app Thanx you get a free appetizer (https://signup.thanx.com/simplycrepes/Sabrina-54625070). And for my breakfast I got the Bananas and Cream crepe. I also always recommend their Chai Lattes. SO DELICIOUS, if you have never gone there you’re seriously missing out. Enjoy!
The Stoneyard Brewery is a new must go spot for people lacking gluten in their lives. They have gluten free skillets, toast, coffee, oh yeah... and donuts. This place is located in Brockport, NY.
The atmosphere here is really neat, its kind of hipster-y, but also welcoming to everyone. When grabbing coffee, they have a wall of mugs and you just grab a mug and pour as much coffee as you please, which I thought was interesting. The workers are also pretty knowledgeable and eager to help you out. The food was great! It was really hot, but I couldn't wait to dig in. Do you see that picture? How was I supposed to wait until it cooled to eat it? So I burnt my mouth, but it was worth it. I received the vegetarian skillet, mainly because of the avocado tbh, but it was really good! They had about 3 choices, and they also had a special, so around 4 types of skillets. They also have other things, but I'm not sure they make other things GF. When I go back, I'll do more digging. But on to the real star, the donuts. THE DONUTS ARE AMAZING! And I believe their also vegan?! How is it done, I don't know. The donuts are hand made by Beth Holdridge, who goes by The Baker's Daughter. You can order things from her through her facebook (thebakersdaughterwny) or Instagram (pastry.pirate). Check her out! Thanks for reading, and ask any questions you have below! The original Anchor Bar is in Niagara Falls, NY, and it's good. I'd say about half the menu is gluten free, which is incredible! The waitress kept apologizing when I asked if something was gluten free and it wasn't, but she really didn't need to apologize considering all of the other options I had!
All wings are gluten free, not the special kind, but the original kind- and all of the sauces. This is what is pictured below, with medium wing sauce. They were great! I didn't get a stomach ache after either, which is a plus. Now the other picture below is the only gluten free dessert they had to offer, which is honestly more than most. This is a vanilla cheesecake brûlée. I'll get straight to the point with this one.... it wasn't great. I had pictured it being warm or at least burnt on top like the menu picture showed and it came out really cold, like it had been in a freezer for a while and they tried to microwave it to heat it up. I didn't really enjoy this one and it is definitely not worth the $8. The vanilla ice was good though, so I'm sure if you asked you could get some ice cream for dessert. All in all I will definitely be returning for those wings! They had a lot to offer- even pizza! I would recommend this to anyone 😊 thanks for reading! -Sabrina If you google "Taco Bell Gluten Free Menu" you will get a very small, but still available, list of items you can actually order! One of those is the chicken power bowl. This is just like a cheaper version of Chipotle and comes with guac, no extra charge. The only thing missing is chips, which you can bring yourself.
SO. YUMMY. My boyfriend loves Taco Bell and now every time we go I order this, so I hope you enjoy this secret discovery and let me know if you try something else that is gluten free from here! Thanks for reading, as always. -Sabrina Core Life Eatery is a new restaurant chain that has opened up! I'm not sure if it is just a Rochester thing for now or not. This is such a neat place for us celiacs, or anyone that's gluten free. EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free. Let me repeat this, EVERYTHING is gluten free. Well except the bread by the register, but besides that, EVERYTHING is gluten free here. They give you the option of making your own soup, salad, or grain bowl, or you can order one with pre-chosen ingredients. It is kind of like a Chipotle, but healthier... much healthier.
In this picture, I made my own soup. I got chicken broth with chicken pieces and rice noodles. I probably should have added in carrots and celery and all that good stuff, but I didn't. Anyways, this was amazing for when I was feeling sick. It really did hit the spot! The drink was an apple cider green tea mix- amazing by the way. When you walk in to the building, the menu is on the wall several times and the food is laid out like at Chipotle or Moe's. They have a huge variety of greens, grains, and veggies. Just about anything you could want, they have. You start by picking a base, so a grain or a green. Then you pick out your veggies. Once you've done this you can move on to the option of broth or dressing or whatever. They have many types of dressings, and many I have never heard of. They do let you sample them if you ask! Then you move on to the meat, and then they mix it all up for you and you're on your way. There is an option of bread at the end, but be warned, this is the only not gluten free item in the store (stupid, I know). Once you have paid, the variety of drinks is amazing. They have many different types of green teas and lemonades! **Side note- the food is very filling and you might have leftovers too! This place is a 5 out of 5 for me, and I highly recommend going here at least once. You won't regret it and your tummy will be thanking you. Enjoy :) |
