What if I told you there was a place where gluten free people come and exchange different Christmas cookies.... what if I told you it was real and in Rochester, NY? One a year right before Christmas the Rochester Celiac Support Group of Greater Rochester gets together and does just that. I should definitely mention that the group meets more than once a year, they meet every month. Visit their website HERE!
Back to the cookies.... to the right are photos of the gingerbread men I made for the cookie exchange. Under those are the photos of all the gluten free cookies I got from other members of the group! At the event it is ideal to bring a to go container to take cookies home with you. You get to try tons of different winter treats, like almond cookies, brownies, and even truffles. Not only do you get free cookies to take home, but most people include their recipe next to the cookie for you to keep and recreate! You’ve gotta love the gluten free community. 10 out of 10 recommend for everyone next year! If you stop by any of their meetings in 2018, tell them Sabrina sent you 🙂 Merry Christmas! Side note... I apologize for this not being on Sunday like I planned, to be honest I thought today was Sunday for most of the day 😬

Oh. My. Goodness. How did I neglect you for 10 months? I'm so sorry for letting such a long time pass. Life got in the way, as well as lack of motivation. I am going to be working on that this coming year. Right now I am on Christmas break from school and was laying in bed bored thinking, "What can I do to curve my boredom?", and realized now is the time to come back.
What have I been up to you ask?
So here is the plan: I will post one blog every week (hopefully) on Sundays. Wish me luck and if you have any blog requests, do not hesitate to ask! Thanks for not giving up on me <3 Hi guys! So today marks day 2 of registration being open for Celiac Strong Summer Camp! This will be our fourth year and its going to be better then ever. We moved locations from Camp Comstock to Camp Cherith and I can't wait to see how much easier this location will make camp. There are less hills, a swimming pool, and big fields for playing group games.
If you don't know what Celiac Strong is, it is a summer camp I founded in 2014. Its a camp that has an entirely gluten free menu, and if people are also lactose intolerant we are able to accommodate them. So this means that everyone that attends camp has one thing in common, they cannot digest gluten. To someone who doesn't have this struggle, this may seem insignificant, but to someone like us- it can be life changing. To meet someone going through the same battle as you, and the make a friend like yourself, and to know you're not different and you're not alone can mean to world to a child. The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-16. It will run this summer from August 9th-12th! If you're interested in registering click here. If you'd like to find out more about the camp, click here. I'm so excited to see the returning campers and to get to know some new ones. Please help to spread the word because we need 60 campers this year! Thanks for reading, and I'll talk to you again on Saturday :) Hi everyone, I'm so sorry I have been away for so long! I was without internet for part of my winter break so I was not able to post. Don't worry though, I haven't forgotten about you. I'll be returning to my normal schedule of Thursday and Saturday posting, so please stay tuned :)
The Lobster Trap in Fairport, NY is a hidden gem. It's also pretty sketchy, considering its attached to a gas station... My mom forced me to go here to get fish for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner, so I figured I'd document the trip for you guys.
Here you can get a ton of different types of fish, including crab, lobster, shrimp, and swordfish. They even had octopus! As sketchy as this place is, I'll admit... it's a nice place to buy fish. And the prices are very good. Check it out! |
